The following instructions explain how to read basic tablature:

This Next 'Chord Chart' below is a description of how to read a simple chord chart that you will frequently see in tablature in guitar magazines 'just slightly above the music'. In order to use this, you must understand that:

  • 1 is your index finger
  • 2 is your middle finger
  • 3 is your ring finger
  • 4 is your pinky.
  • Although 'T' denotes the thumb, it may not be in the best of style especially for beginners.
